I am going Vientiane, Laos very soon. I want to apply for a Visa based
on having a child in Thailand. We are not married yet. My name is on
my sons birth certificate.
What documents do I need in order to qualify?
Thank you
PS: I know that this is possible as I have known someone who is always
getting this type of visa.

I will apply for a NON immigrant O-type of visa at the Thai embassy
in Vientianne, Laos.
I will go tomorrow morning. I will take all docs that I have as I'm
not sure what I should bring.
I will report back soon.

I got back yesterday. I went with a nok air return ticket for about 3300 THB.
I flew from Don Mueang to Udon Thani. From the airport you take a minivan to
the border(200 THB). Took a bus from the border to the central bus stop in
Vientianne (20 THB), from there a Tuk Tuk to the Thai embassy (80 THB).
I applied for a Non Immigrant O-Type of Visa based on having a child in Thailand.
All I needed to submit was:
- My passport
- 1 Copy of the first page of my PP
- 1 Copy of the Visa page of my PP
- 1 Copy of the birth certificate
- 1 Copy of the passport of my girlfriend (Copy signed by her)
Paid 2000,- THB.
Returned the next day after 13:00h and picked up my PP with the visa in it.
It gives you three months in TL. You may extend this visa for up to a year
in Bkk. (This, however involves a lot of paperwork)
After I had applied for the visa I walked all the way to this shop:
Bike Rental Laos
I got this bike to use for 850 THB (24h)
I went to stay here for the night:
Dreamtime Laos
Went back to Vientiane the next day to pick up my PP and head back to BKK.
Was a very fun visa run.

1. Pictures of myself and my wife in our place of residence (in and out).
2. Copy of my passport
3. Copy of my wife's ID card.
4. Copy of my wife's house registration.
5. Paperwork from my place of work (you do not have to submit those if you have a minimum of 400,000 THB in your bank account and can show proof of it). This is in case you're retired or not working. Otherwise, they would like to see your PoNgoDo 91 for proof of filing income tax.
