I agree with you BC. I paid God only knows how much into Medicare for 36 years and cannot use the "benefit".

It's kind of like taxation without representation as we are forced to pay USA income tax. OK, we can vote, but I'd rather have free medical care.

I am sorry to see what looks like the end to health care reform. It is about time America cover most or all of its citizens. Even if it does not benefit me, I still think a rich nation like the US should have a health plan to cover all the people.
A 'rich nation' ... hmmm looking at the US government published data seems to me like a 'indebted nation'. I don't doubt that the US is a rich nation, but the national debt seems to be heading the wrong way, at an alarming rate. Time for the government to WAKE UP.

The government/Fed has an unspoken plan to reflate the economy. The reflation makes many of the problematic loans OK.

From my personal financial perspective great Depression II doesn't hurt me too much but hyperinflation kills me.

You are lucky you are able to collect your social security overseas. I have heard in some countries, if you are not in the country the majority of the year, the government lowers your benefit.

As long as I don't take on another country's citizenship I will get my full SS.

That is quite obvious. You and BC were lamenting the fact you are not able to use your medicare benefits overseas. I was simply pointing out how other countries limit expat's social security benefits as well.

I am not aware of a country that does that.

I was talking to a chap from New Zealand that told me this. I am not sure if England and Australia are the same, but I would not be surprised.

Are there any Kiwis here who can verify that? Any Brits or Aussies have the answer?

Brits do not get any SS or health benefits if they reside outside the UK. But they can go out of the country on 'short holiday' and still collect SS benefits. But no health claims will be entertained. Also state pension benefits are frozen if residing outside the UK, ie no annual index increases will be applied.

This came straight from the Kiwi's lips. Not sure why you need verification. Why would he lie?

I am not saying he lied. What I mean is that he hasn't posted it here. To this board it is hearsay.

OK Perry Mason, hearsay objection noted and overruled. Be thankful you receive your full social security benefits while living outside of the USA.
