My teerak and I finally got around to seeing the 3-D version of avatar and we both enjoyed it.
3-D made it a special experience but if many more movies come out on 3-D it'll get stale quickly.
Extra charge for 3-D at Central festival, the tickets were 220 baht.

It is not the same big screen experience, but you can buy the DVD for 100 baht from street vendors.

I never buy DVDs as since there is so much free entertainment on TV, I don't want to spend 100 baht. I think some people like having a "collection" and the concept of "ownership".
I know going to the movies cost more than 100 baht but it's a night out for me and my teerak.

Big productions like Titanic and Avatar are so much better than on a small TV screen. It is worth the extra 120 baht, in my book.

Couldn't agree more, a good trip out for the missus and I and worth the bahts spent. Unfortunately however, a rare occurrence as the cinema in Tesco Krabi only shows the movies with Thai soundtrack... Oh well

If it's a Thai movie, a Thai soundtrack with English subtitles suits me fine.
I don't like when any movie is dubbed though.

I have seen American movies dubbed in Thai but with no English subtitles. It was alright but not really a fun experience. Now I know how Thais feel when they see an American movie.
